A degreaser and all-purpose cleaner or also called APC is such a versatile product that it is indispensable when washing or detailing your car. It is a product that you can use on all surfaces and materials if you dilute it correctly. For example, you can use a strong concentration to degrease your engine compartment and remove all dirt, grease and baked-on oil. Or you can dilute it well with water and clean your interior with it. With a degreaser or all-purpose cleaner, you can decide for yourself how strong a cleaning product you need. It can significantly speed up your work by attacking stubborn dirt with a strong cleaner. Using a borstel always improves the effect of a degreaser.
You will notice that the term degreaser and all-purpose cleaner can be taken very broadly. There are the most traditional alkaline all-purpose cleaners and also water stain removers and isopropyl alcohol degreasers that are used to degrease the paint before applying a coating.
What is the difference between an ordinary degreaser and an all-purpose cleaner? Usually the difference is whether the formula consists of citrus or not. Citrus is in fact a solvent that has a very good cleaning performance but can be aggressive on certain surfaces such as leather, paint protection, dashboard instruments, and so on. Some brands also use a stronger concentrate with degreasers and sometimes prepare the all-purpose cleaner for use. Usually by reading both descriptions you can determine what the formula of the product contains so that you know which one best suits your needs.
As mentioned before, we also offer isopropyl alcohol degreasers. These cannot be compared with the standard degreaser and all-purpose cleaner. The isopropyl alcohol is not made to loosen or remove dirt, they are not even made to work in conjunction with a borstel to use. They are specifically made to work with a microfibre cloth be used to degrease the surfaces before applying protection such as a coating. It removes dust but the formula is specific for removing oils and silicones. These hinder the bonding process in a coating and must therefore be removed before application. We also have a specific section for this at the protection preparation category.
We also have water stain cleaners. These remove water stains that can get on your car and especially the paint after washing your car. There are minerals in the tap water that when the water dries on the car, the minerals remain on the paint. If these minerals are not removed, they can burn into the paint and cause permanent damage. This will force you to apply the paint polishing, To sand or even re-spray. If you use a water stain cleaner together with a microfibre cloth, you can remove it in time before damage occurs. You can prevent water spots by using a water filter system or by using a drying aid spray when the paint is still wet. We recommend a ceramic detailing spray to use while drying so you can easily dry your car with your drying towel and while preventing water stains. If you give your car a ceramic coating If you give it or have it installed, the chance of water stains is also drastically reduced.
A degreaser and all-purpose cleaner always come in handy. Whether it is to clean your tires or to clean your leather. With the right dilution and the right brush you can always clean all surfaces. We therefore believe that every detailer should have a degreaser and all-purpose cleaner.
