Car shampoo & Snow Foam

A good car shampoo & snow foam soap is a necessity for anyone washing their car, especially for detailers. Many people think you car wash with green soap or dishwashing liquid is good enough and can do no harm. But this is anything but the case. The snow foam is the product that will ensure that there is as much dirt as possible from the car before you wash the car. It also loosens stuck-on dirt so that when you wash with your 2 emmer method and a wash glove you can more easily remove the dirt. It therefore determines to a very large extent whether you will scratch your car before you have touched it. It also helps considerably if your car is protected with a wax, spray coating or a real one coating† As a result, in many cases you no longer even have to wash the car with a wash glove and a car shampoo. A good snow foam will ensure that your car is almost completely clean by simply spraying a thick layer of foam on the protection with a foam cannon.
you also have 2 different types of snow foam shampoo† You have pH neutral shampoo and alkaline shampoo. If you don't have any protection on your car, we recommend using an alkaline snow foam shampoo. These will drain and loosen as much dirt as possible. If you do have protection on your car, even a real coating, we recommend using a pH neutral shampoo. These are the softest for protection and do not break it or hardly break it. The alkaline shampoo is much more aggressive and can break down protection, with repeated use it can even break down a coating's water and dirt repellent properties. If you have a coating and still have an extremely dirty car, you can exceptionally use this as it is still better to remove as much dirt as possible and to limit wax scratches. The pH neutral shampoo, despite being a shampoo that can be used safely on protected surfaces, will still clean very well, especially compared to green soap or dishwashing liquid.
This is the same with a car shampoo. A car shampoo, as the name suggests, is specially designed to be used as a car shampoo. It breaks down dirt that is specific to cars while dishwashing liquid breaks down dirt that is specific to cutlery and plates. The formulation and use of both soaps are therefore completely different. A car shampoo is also available in pH neutral and alkaline. Although these are mainly pH neutral. The idea behind choosing between pH neutral and alkaline is again the same as with the snow foam shampoo.
In addition, there are also 2 types of soap in car shampoo. You have the regular car shampoo and a 2 in 1 product that will wash and protect at the same time. There are also car shampoo & snow foam shampoos that have a 2 in 1 formula where they clean and protect at the same time, but we are not in favor of this ourselves. This is because they are often made on the basis of wax. Wax is a sticky product and these clog the filter in the foam cannon. With regard to car shampoo, this can sometimes be useful when you already have protection on your car. This allows you to revive the water and dirt-repellent properties of the protection. It also creates a protective layer for the protection that you have applied, so that, for example, your wax or coating will have to endure less and they will last longer. However, we only recommend using a shampoo and wax on a car that has been treated with wax and not on a car that has a ceramic or graphene protection. The wax will clog the pores of the ceramic and graphene parts and make them work less well. We recommend using a ceramic shampoo for this.
The most important property of both a normal car shampoo and a 2 in 1 car shampoo is still lubricant. Many think that an aggressive shampoo is best so that the dirt can be properly dissolved. In the detailing world this is exactly the other way around. The snow foam shampoo usually has a different formula than a car shampoo. While both can work for either application, they work best when used specifically for the task for which they are designed. A snow foam is always used for the car shampoo. It is designed not to slip, but rather to stick to the surface and loosen the dirt. The car shampoo is made to let your wash mitt glide over the surface as smoothly as possible. Wax scratches occur when your wash mitt starts to slide over the paint. When it goes smoothly over the paint, you make considerably fewer scratches than when you use a shampoo that does not glide smoothly. Even with the slipperiest car shampoo, your wash mitt will still remove the dirt just as smoothly as with a shampoo that is more aggressive but less gliding.
At Custom Car Care we have already tested a lot of different shampoos and have already done extensive research on this. This allows us to recommend the best advice and the best products. We always advise to use 2 specific products. Namely a good gliding pH neutral car shampoo and a pH neutral snow foam shampoo. We are also a big proponent of using as many specific products as possible for specific applications. We therefore recommend that you buy a shampoo and a wax or spray coating separately and not as a 2 in 1 product. Although of course we respect and understand everyone's needs, free time and budget.
