Auto wax has been around as long as the car has been around. From the time the first cars were made, there were already "detailers" that protected the paint with a car wax. Today we have liquid wax and paste wax, but in the past there was only paste wax. Although the ingredients have largely remained the same, the quality and durability of the wax has improved rapidly.
A car wax is a very easy way to quickly apply a protective layer to the paint and give the paint extra shine and reflection. Because the paint is protected with wax, the surface will also become extremely water and dirt repellent. This way your car will stay clean longer and it will also be easier to clean. The dirt cannot adhere well to the paint, which means that the car will remain cleaner for a longer period of time. A good rain shower often ensures that the car becomes a lot cleaner than before. There will of course always be a small dirty film on the paint. You can easily clean this by using a pH neutral car shampoo with your 2 bucket method. If you use an aggressive shampoo, the performance and durability of the car wax will decrease or even disappear completely.
There are mainly 2 types of wax. Namely the traditional paste wax and the liquid wax. The traditional paste wax is a jar containing a hard wax. This is hard because the percentage of wax in the paste wax is higher than with the liquid wax. This will also make the wax harder. You can spread the paste wax by using a applicator rubbing the wax in the jar and then rubbing it on the paint. Try not to rub too much product over the paint in one turn. You really don't need a lot of wax on the paint for it to work. It doesn't mean the thicker you apply the wax, the better it will work. We take off the excess product with a microfibre cloth after the wax has been able to harden on the paint for a while. If you put the wax too thick on the paint it can become very difficult to remove and feel very sticky. This shouldn't be. If you have applied it correctly, you should normally be able to remove the car wax very easily.
The liquid wax has a lower wax content because otherwise it cannot become liquid. As a result, the durability is often shorter than a traditional paste wax. Although when you take a liquid wax that also contains ceramic components, it can sometimes still remain on the paint for six months before you have to reapply. The liquid wax generally also gives less shine and reflection than a paste wax. The advantage is that you can apply a liquid wax very easily. You can do this in the same way as a paste wax, namely with an applicator. Or with a polisher and an polishing pad. In this way you can sometimes wax an entire car in just 10 minutes!
It is always important to make sure that the paint is completely clean when you put your paint in the wax. You can do this by first washing the car well with a car shampoo and you 2 emmer system. After this you can dry the car with a drying towel and apply the car wax. However, for maximum performance and a result that is as durable as possible, it is recommended to additionally prepare the paint. You do this by removing iron particles with a iron remover and remove tar stains with a tar remover. After this you can apply the paint again if desired clay treatment to remove the last contamination. You can then also degrease the paint with a isopropyl based degreaser. To make the bond between the car wax and the paint even better.
